The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus is the latest smartphone in the Samsung Galaxy range of Android smartphones by Samsung. Launched in April 2018, the S22 Plus runs on Android 8 Oreo and comes with an Octa-core 2GHz processor,
which makes browsing, loading applications, and multitasking smooth and easy. It also has 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, and a MicroSD slot that can support memory cards up to 256GB.
Introduction
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus is one of Samsung’s newest smartphones in their lineup. It runs on an updated operating system, contains a high-definition camera, and allows for instant communication with people around you.
In addition to all of these exciting features, it has a front-facing flash which makes taking photos much easier than before. As you may already know, as smartphone users become more advanced; so does their expectations for a better user experience.
All around great screen quality, ease of use, and overall user experience are key factors in deciding which smartphone will be right for you. Let’s take a look at what else has to offer
Design
Samsung has made its latest flagship device even better. The all-new Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus boasts a wide-angle lens and an improved 12MP camera. As we always say, don’t judge a book by its cover, but there is no denying that it looks super stylish and is one of Samsung’s best phones yet. Let’s see what other features it has to offer.
Now that we’ve given you a quick glance at what it looks like, let’s go through each feature to see what it offers. Starting with its front camera, it has an 8MP lens which is really impressive and great for selfie lovers.
It has all of your favorite apps pre-installed, as well as some more recent additions such as Spotify and Docs. You can check out our full Samsung Galaxy s7 vs Apple iPhone 7 comparison to see how it stacks up against its competitors.
Display
Samsung Mobile has updated most of its existing apps and added new ones with Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus. It also comes preloaded with standard Google apps like Chrome, Gmail, Drive, Hangouts, Maps, Play Music, and YouTube.
There are quite a few non-Google apps on board as well – Amazon Kindle is present along with Flipboard and Pulse News Reader. This is one of those rare instances where it makes sense to talk about software updates.
Over time, we’ve learned that phones rarely get them past their launch date; that’s not true for Android One devices like these Samsungs (with an exception or two). Android 8.0 Oreo is already on board!
Some quick specifications before we dive into some of our favorite features. The smartphone features a 6.0-inch Super AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and full HD+ resolution (2160 x 1080 pixels). It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and comes with an Always-On
Software
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus features a brand new version of TouchWiz, which should make it easier to customize than ever before. It’s as complete as ever, offering several different lock screen options and tweaking controls for just about every button on your phone.
And while you might not be able to use your phone with gloves on all day long, some owners won’t have an issue at all. Whether or not these are changes that matter depends on whether or not you agree with us that TouchWiz has gotten better over time—
but there’s no denying it has fewer problems than it used to, which means more users will actually see what all these tweaks do in practice.
Hardware
The hardware isn’t too bad either. The phone is powered by an octa-core Exynos 7 Series chipset, a chip that performs well against its Qualcomm and MediaTek counterparts. You also get 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage out of the box,
plus expandable storage via a microSD card (up to 256GB). At first glance, it doesn’t look like there’s much else to say here; it’s just a solid smartphone that has what it takes to power through anything you throw at it.
However, you might notice some stutters with complex games or applications due to Samsung’s quirky TouchWiz user interface overlay.
Camera
The phone comes with a 13 MP camera sensor on its back. The camera of Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus has great software support for photo editing and provides many filters, like Sepia, Black & White, and so on. The full specifications of its camera are given below
Battery
Despite coming in at a fairly compact 5.1-inches, Samsung’s new flagship packs a 3,000mAh battery into its slim frame. While it doesn’t offer as much juice as some of today’s biggest powerhouses (like Samsung’s own Note series), it was more than enough to see me through an entire day of heavy use.
And that was with some pretty intensive 4G LTE and Wi-Fi activity on my part; I never had to worry about it dying while I was out and about throughout the day, even if I let my phone sit unused overnight before plugging it in to charge during my morning routine.
Connectivity
As usual, Android is about giving you choices. The Galaxy S8 and its cousin, the S8+, both offer wireless charging; an inductive-charging back cover is in the box. It also offers LTE with carrier aggregation (band 71) that lets it work on AT&T and T-Mobile’s new LTE networks—
and all of their respective MVNOs. In addition to Wi-Fi 802.11ac MIMO (2.4GHz and 5GHz), it supports Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, NFC, USB 3.1 Type C (gen 1), and FM radio.
Additional Features
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus has a good battery life and is easy to use. It also has a micro SD card slot which means you can increase its storage space up to 128 GB. The phone also has an amazing camera with high-resolution photos, fast-speed autofocus, and 16 megapixels.
This mobile supports a 3G network which will give you a good internet speed with which you can surf social media pages like Facebook, Google +, and YouTube at ease. The phone’s resolution of 5.5 inches will make watching videos very comfortable on a big screen with better audio quality than other smartphones in its range.
Fingerprint Scanner
The Samsung Galaxy S22 features a convenient fingerprint scanner for added security. With just one touch, you can access your phone and make secure purchases.
You can even use it to take a selfie—perfect for capturing special moments with friends. And if you’re in a rush, simply swipe up or down on your home screen to securely unlock your phone in under 0.7 seconds!
A fingerprint sensor isn’t just convenient—it’s also a major step toward protecting your phone from thieves. After all, it can be difficult to replace a stolen smartphone, especially if you have sensitive information stored on it.
That’s why Samsung has put so much effort into ensuring your phone is secure. Not only does it come with a robust screen lock, but as soon as your finger touches its biometric scanner, you can rest assured that your data will remain safe and sound.
Email, Internet, Music, and Video: If you use your phone to stay in touch with friends and family, stream music or watch videos on YouTube and Netflix then you’ll appreciate its dual sim capability.
This feature allows you to manage two different telephone numbers in one phone. So for example if you live abroad,
it means having a home number for when you’re visiting family back home or a local number so that your foreign friends can reach you while they are traveling.
Waterproof & Dustproof: If you have a wet and messy household, then one feature you will appreciate is water resistance.
With an IP68 rating, not only can you safely use your phone in extreme temperatures but it’s completely waterproof too.
Of course, Samsung has designed its screen to be rugged, so if it gets dropped on hard flooring then there won’t be any worry of cracks appearing.
Battery Life
With a massive 5100mAh battery, you can talk on your Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus for up to 24 hours between charges. You can even boost that to 30 hours by using Ultra Power Saving Mode (UPSM), which switches off all but essential functions when you’re low on juice.
We haven’t had any issues with battery life over several weeks of testing, but it’s nice to know there’s an option for when you do run out of power. Of course, there is still Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 and USB Type-C for fast charging when required –
but we’ve found we rarely need it. Oh, and let’s not forget Wireless Charging thanks to Qi certification!
If you are one of those people who needs more than 24 hours of battery life, Samsung has a solution for you with their latest phone.
The newest incarnation of Samsung’s popular phones has included a larger capacity of the battery that can last up to 30 hours! Yes, that is not a typo – it actually lasts for an entire day without charging! And when it does need to be charged,
you can use Quick Charge technology and USB Type C to get your phone back up and running within just 2 hours. If that still isn’t enough for you, simply flip on ultra power saving mode (UPSM) which will turn off most functions and save even more juice!
So you need to be able to have your phone around for a long time without having to charge it. Well, we’ve got you covered!
We designed our phone with an enormous 5100mAh battery that is built-in so that you can talk on your phone for 24 hours straight or surf using 4G/LTE up to 15 hours before needing to charge. With Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 and USB Type C, getting back up and running after just 2 hours is a breeze too!
And if that still isn’t enough, simply flip on ultra power saving mode (UPSM) which will turn off most functions and save even more juice!
But seriously, there are only two things you should be worrying about – what movie are we going to watch tonight?
How many times have you run out of battery? We’ve all been there. Your phone is your primary source of communication for most people, and when it goes dead, so does your social life. Even worse are those occasions when you have a long day planned –
or even an entire day – and you know you aren’t going to have time to charge up before heading out again. It’s frustrating, but thankfully not something that has to be a part of everyday life any more thanks to our huge 5100mAh battery!
With up to 24 hours of talk time on 4G and 15 hours of browsing time with 4G/LTE, there should be plenty of juice left in your phone at bedtime – even if you go overboard during the day.
Price & Release Date
In terms of price, we expect it to cost somewhere around $699. It will be available for purchase next month if everything goes according to plan. Until then, you’ll have to make do with your old phone; don’t worry, there are plenty of apps in Google Play Store that can help you pass time until release day!
If you want even more (and we think everyone does) there’s always Facebook and Instagram! Those guys won’t steer you wrong. Speaking of steering people wrong, don’t worry about selfies on your new phone:
dual cameras mean excellent front-facing pictures as well as back shots so your followers won’t ever get tired of looking at that beautiful face of yours.
If you’re worried about your old phone, don’t be. You can always sell it online at a site like Facebook or Craigslist. Even if you get a few hundred dollars for it, that should be enough to offset some of your costs for the new one!
While on social media apps and websites, send us a message! We’d love to hear from our readers—and there are plenty of amazing people out there who would want to add your number to their contact list if you put in a little effort (don’t worry we won’t tell anyone if it takes a couple of tries). Everyone’s welcome here at Android Headlines!
With so many ways to contact your new device, you’ll be able to make friends with it in no time. Don’t worry about losing numbers either: there are plenty of cloud apps that can help you sync all of your contacts for when you get a new phone.
We won’t tell anyone that you’ll be switching over next month! It might not seem like it now, but your old phone is going to see better days. Once you get used to your new phone, that ol’ standby will seem old and outdated. It happens; don’t worry!
At $699, it might seem like a big investment for a smartphone. Don’t worry about that, though—you won’t need to take out a second mortgage to afford one.
In fact, you can get your new Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus with either an installment plan or buy it outright through Paypal and their associates. Either way, you’re set; don’t worry! Have some fun with your old phone,
but if you want to upgrade soon enough you’ll have plenty of options available to make it happen sooner rather than later.
