A) Overview

The Motorola Moto G (Moto G (4th Generation)) comes with a 5.2-inch screen display, octa-core processor, 3 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128 GB via a microSD card.

It runs on Android OS v6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and is powered by a non-removable 3000 mAh battery. The Motorola Moto G (Moto G (4th Generation)) has two rear cameras of 13 MP & 5 MP along with an 8 MP front camera.

It measures 144 x 73 x 9 mm (height x width x thickness) with a total weight of 155 grams including battery and comes in Lunar Gray, Fine Gold & Rose Gold colors.

The Motorola Moto G (Moto G (4th Generation)) is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8940 Snapdragon 617 chipset, with an Octacore 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 processor and Adreno 405 GPU, coupled with 3 GB of RAM.

The internal storage of 32 GB can be expanded up to 128 GB via a microSD card which cannot be used for storing applications because it has adoptable storage. As far as optics are concerned, it comes with Dual cameras at 13 MP & 5 MP on its rear side and an 8 MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calling.

B) Display

5.00-inch screen, 18:9 ratio (~72.4% screen-to-body ratio) with [FHD+] 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution at 424 PPI density is used in Motorola Moto G41.

Onboard memory is 32GB for the high-end model and 64GB for the base version. The phone packs a 5000mAh battery with Turbocharging support which might deliver decent performance as compared to its competitors in terms of endurance.

The handset features a 12-megapixel primary camera on the rear side and an 8-megapixel front-facing selfie shooter for better picture quality.

Moreover, the handset supports Bluetooth 5.0, USB 3.1 Type-C port, Fingerprint sensor, GPS with A-GPS and other sensors are supported by it. Other connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Hotspot, Bluetooth 5.0 , NFC etc…

C) Performance

The Motorola Moto G4 delivers a quick response in everyday life. This is due to its 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 and 2 GB of RAM. The internal memory capacity of 16 GB can be extended with a microSD card up to 128 GB (not included).

In addition, you can use different wireless standards like Bluetooth 4.2 or WiFi 802.11 b / g / n at up to 300 Mbit/s (WLAN) or 866 Mbit/s (LTE Cat 6). An NFC chip makes contactless payments possible and enables you to use Google Pay and other services via Android Pay as well as Samsung Pay via an optional adapter in case your bank supports it.

The smartphone is powered by a removable 2700 mAh battery. Motorola promises up to 24 hours of talk time. Other features include an LED flashlight, Android 6.0, and a 2 MP front camera with a video call function (720p resolution).

The primary camera is a 13 MP module with autofocus, dual-LED flash, and 4x digital zoom as well as electronic image stabilization (EIS). Due to its high performance, you can take pictures in high resolution of up to 4160 x 3120 pixels and record videos in Full HD at 30 fps or Ultra HD at 24 fps.

D) Camera

A 16 MP autofocus camera with an f/2.0 aperture lens, phase detection autofocus, and dual-LED flash. The front camera is a 5 MP f/2.2 aperture lens with an 80-degree field of view. We’re looking at software features like smart capture and face filter for selfies, panorama, HDR, pro mode, and beauty effects.

Video recording will be 4K at 30 fps and slow-motion video at 1080p in 120 fps or 720p in 240 fps (slow motion). Camera options include Beauty Mode which will soften your photos by smoothing out fine lines but some commenters say it makes photos look artificial rather than capturing what you see.

The camera is a big focus for manufacturers as smartphones become our primary camera. They all want to add depth of field and bokeh effects but Nokia’s Lumia phones were a bit ahead when they came out in 2013, which used software to simulate a shallow depth of field effect by selectively blurring background objects while keeping photos sharp.

Sony has improved its algorithms with newer cameras and we hope these new features will work well together. The Bokeh effect is often used on Portrait Mode which simulates a shallow depth of field to blur out foreground objects while keeping your subject in focus like selfies or portraits that are soft-focused around you but razor-sharp on your face.

E) Battery

A Non-removable Li-Ion 3030 mAh battery. Talk time (3G) : Up to 31 h (2G) : Up to 21 h, Standby time: Up to 1396 h (2G) / Up to 692 h (3G), Music play: Up to 60 h, Video playback: up to 9h 40 min. Internet use: up to 11 hours on 3G, up to 10 hours on LTE.

Coming to the camera, The Motorola Moto G4 features a 13MP primary camera on the rear and a 5MP front shooter for selfies. Camera features include geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama. Videos can be recorded at 1080p@30fps. Upfront is a 5-megapixel camera that also records videos in Full HD resolution at 30fps.

F) Connectivity

There are no mobile network bands present in any of these. It’s either HSPA or LTE depending on what market you’re in. In markets that support 4G, there is dual-SIM LTE support.

The LTE variants also have a microSD card slot. This can be found underneath their removable rear panels. On these models, you’ll find a nano-SIM and a microSD card slot.

A single USB Type-C port is used for charging and connectivity. This supports 4G LTE bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17, 3G WCDMA band 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100, and 2G GSM band 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 with HSDPA of up to 21.1 Mbps, and with HSUPA of up to 5.76 Mbps.

There’s support for Bluetooth 4.2 here as well as WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n and NFC support. Additionally, there’s also GPS here with A-GPS and GLONASS navigation systems available.

G) Software

All Android-based phones are designed around a common software platform. The G41’s default software environment is Google’s Android operating system. However, like most Android devices, you’ll find that Motorola has customized its own user interface (called Motoblur) on top of what is otherwise a vanilla version of Android.

As a result, you’ll see unique icons and layouts throughout most aspects of your device’s interface. You may also see some additional software applications preinstalled on your device.

But despite any OEM modifications, all new Android phones run essentially the same operating system in terms of basic functionality and design principles. This means that once you learn how to use one Android phone, you know how to use them all—and that includes your Motorola device!

To fully appreciate how to use your new phone, you should understand how it works. As mentioned earlier, all Android phones are built on top of Google’s Android operating system (aka Android OS), which is a custom version of Linux that has been tailored for smartphones and tablets.

By contrast, most desktop and laptop computers run an operating system called Windows, which was originally designed for personal computers.

If you’ve used a PC or Mac before, then you’ll notice a number of differences between Android and Windows-based devices—and when it comes to basic navigation principles like pressing buttons or tapping screens in certain ways to achieve certain results.

H) Verdict

The New Motorola Moto G4 is a strong performer for its price, and its camera surprised us with very good performance for a phone in its class. The battery life is what we have come to expect from phones in their class, which isn’t too much of an issue considering how you are unlikely to be away from a charger during your working day.

The design of the phone is as you would expect from any other Motorola device and that’s great because they generally get it right. This is a nice device if you’re looking at upgrading your contract or changing networks but don’t want to spend much money on your new phone.

It’s obvious that Motorola has tried to bring as much as they can from their flagship devices into a device at a price that makes it affordable to most people.
